Vonetize Partners with Samsung to Launch Premium Content Service SmartVOD on Smart TVs & Mobile Devices Across Latin America
Collaboration Brings Newly-Released, Premium Hollywood Movies for Rental and Purchase to Millions of Samsung Devices in the Region
SAN FRANCISCO(18 Nov 2015)
Today Vonetize, a fully-managed VOD service provider, announced a partnership with global electronics leader Samsung that will see Vonetize’s leading premium content service, SmartVOD, distributed on millions of Samsung devices throughout Latin America. Together, Vonetize and Samsung will roll out the offering to countries across the region in the coming months, giving millions of Samsung consumers the highest quality content directly on their smart TVs and mobile devices.
Vonetize’s SmartVOD service features multi-category premium Hollywood films and TV series, and is already available in over 30 countries worldwide. The company has licensing contracts with top tier studios, including Disney, Warner Brothers, Fox, Universal, Sony Pictures, Miramax, MGM, and others. The launch in Latin America will focus on allowing the on-demand rental and purchase of the latest blockbuster releases without requiring any commitment. All of the content, including 3D movies, will be delivered in full HD 1080p and users of Samsung 4K smart TVs will also enjoy a selection of titles with 4K quality. Films and TV shows will be localized through subtitles, dubbing and UI language. Users will also be able to download purchased content to their tablets or smartphones for viewing offline in high quality.
Latin America has become a highly desirable market for technology firms, telecoms, and investors in recent years, boasting a rapidly growing, tech-savvy and Internet-connected population. The region’s growth is particularly prevalent in the broadband and mobile spheres, making Latin America the ideal platform for SmartVOD’s launch with Samsung. According to IDC, IT growth in Latin America this year will outpace the global average of 3.7 percent, and by the end 2015 will house approximately 291 million connected devices.
“With the rollout of SmartVOD in Latin America, we are very excited to continue our partnership with Samsung, one of the biggest players in the consumer electronics market,” commented Vonetize CEO Noam Josephides. “At Vonetize, we are always looking for new ways to make superior video content accessible through smart devices across global markets, and Latin America is taking quantum leaps towards interconnectedness via technology. Working together with Samsung in Latin America is a groundbreaking opportunity to match the best devices on the market with top-quality content for the ultimate consumer experience.”
Vonetize is disrupting the traditional entertainment industry by offering top-quality premium and niche content to connected viewers around the world through any smart device. The company develops premium content services and technology platforms for Smart TVs and mobile devices that reach millions of viewers worldwide, with an emphasis on emerging markets. The company provides a variety of content offerings – from Hollywood movies and TV series through its premium content offering SmartVOD to concerts, children’s programming and niche ethnic content on the company’s global channels.
