Netflix Will Launch in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland
The battle of the all-you-can-stream services in Europe continues, as Netflix announced today that it's planning a Scandinavian attack. The Los Gatos, California-based online service will launch in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland in late 2012. Subscribers will get unlimited streaming of TV shows and movies for one monthly price, although Netflix hasn't announced the size of the content library for Scandinavian customers or the subscription price. Netflix says it will offer more details closer to the launch date.
What the typically tight-lipped company has said is that subscribers will have access to Hollywood, local, and global titles, and that many of those will offer Dolby Plus surround sound and be in high-definition video.
While even the date of the launch hasn't been announced yet, Netflix advises those interested to sign up for more information at Netflix.com. They'll then get an email alert when the service is available in their country.
Netflix expanded into Canada in 2010 and to several Latin American countries in 2011. It debuted in Europe in early 2012, when it became available in the U.K. and Ireland. The company began online streaming in 2007. It currently counts more that 27 million subscribers around the globe.
