Transcoding and video streaming company Bitmovin wants to make it easier for companies to learn about and adopt its Bitdash line of MPEG-DASH players, so it's launched the site www.dash-player.com, providing product information, pricing details, and the ability to sample streamed DASH video. Bitmovin's players stream to a wide variety of desktop browsers that use HTML5 or Flash, and mobile browsers and apps that use HTML5. Its players can be used for both live and on-demand video streaming.

Using the new site, those interested can try the free version of the Bitdash player on noncommercial sites. A professional license, which includes custom branding, advanced streaming optimization, metrics, and more, sells for $199 per domain. For enterprise license pricing, which includes premium support, customers will need to contact Bitmovin.

“Today, content providers are expanding the distribution of their on-demand and live offerings to the web and across multiple devices including and beyond TV," says Stefan Lederer, Bitmovin's CEO. "Due to the increasing customer expectations, the success of them depends on the offered video quality."

In August, Bitmovin announced it had taken in a 7-figure investment (in U.S. dollars) from Speedinvest, an Austrian/U.S. venture fund; Constantia Industries, an institutional investor; as well as public financing from Austrian funding agencies. It planned to use the funds to develop and expand its portfolio of products.
