The 2019 Streaming Media Europe Readers' Choice Award Winners

Article Featured Image

This year marks our 11th annual Streaming Media European Readers’ Choice Awards, and as always, the results offer a compelling (and sometimes unexpected) insight into which companies are making their mark not with advertising dollars or the biggest stands at NAB or IBC, but with the people who actually use their products and services.

Once again we highlighted 17 categories in the online video space. Defining these categories is always a delicate balancing act—make them too broad, and they’re meaningless; make them too narrow, and we’d need hundreds of them to cover the gamut. Each year, we evaluate the categories to make sure they’re as representative as possible of all the companies in the streaming media market, then open up the call for nominations. And while we accept nominations from companies outside of Europe (as long as they have a strong European presence), the vast majority of the companies are European-based.

When all the ballots are in, we discard votes from obviously phony email addresses as well as those by employees casting ballots for their own companies’ products. Here are the winners and two runners-up in each category, as determined by total number of votes (runners-up are listed alphabetically). Many of the names are familiar, but there may be a few that are new to you. Congratulations to all the winners and runners-up.
