Berlin, Germany(16 Nov 2017)

The new W&H video portal enables customers and others interested in the company to view professionally made videos demonstrating the use of dental equipment and procedures, featuring interviews with experts in the field and offering exclusive footage from video studies, films on surgical procedures and clips from treatments. movingimage’s secure EVP guarantees high-quality video streaming from anywhere in the world, thanks to the integrated content delivery network (CDN) from Akamai. In addition, the platform ensures that the videos can be viewed on any type of device, including smartphones and tablet computers. The secure EVP from movingimage continually monitors and adjusts the quality of the videos to the bandwidth of the available Internet connection during playback, always providing the highest quality possible.

The movingimage secure EVP integrates seamlessly with W&H’s Imperia frontend portal application and content management system, enabling the company to design the portal according to its corporate design and deliver videos to it easily. The content managers at W&H upload the videos to the movingimage platform and store metadata such as titles and descriptions there. Once a video has been released, it is transferred to Imperia and automatically embedded in the right category on the video portal’s frontend.

Pursuant to European data protection regulations, W&H data is hosted on the cloud-based secure EVP from movingimage, which is powered by Microsoft Azure. Additional security features include login management, permissions management and SSL encryption to provide end-to-end security for the company’s videos. It is also possible to precisely determine the countries in which the videos will be available, or not, using geoblocking.

Previously, W&H had only used YouTube to broadcast its videos; however, this resulted in numerous restrictions for the company. W&H could not implement its corporate design as it had intended, and potential customer outreach was limited because YouTube is blocked in China, for example. In addition, YouTube claims usage rights for the videos, which is not acceptable for W&H’s professional videos that contain insider know-how.

“We can now offer high-quality streaming anywhere in the world with the secure Enterprise Video Platform from movingimage, and it integrated into our CMS from Imperia without a hitch,” said Dr. Corinna Dunst, a member of the e-marketing team at W&H. “We now have a video portal that offers real added value for our customers and people interested in our company, and it puts us at the vanguard of the dental industry.”
