The Switch supports Stand Up To Cancer’s seventh biennial roadblock telecast with a full range of production and delivery services

The Switch provides live expertise and network reach for SU2C fundraising special in support of urgently needed research and new treatments for cancer

New York(23 Aug 2021)

The Switch, a leading provider of production services and global delivery of live video, provided a full slate of services for Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), supporting the broadcast of its seventh biennial roadblock telecast. The show, which aired simultaneously on more than 60 participating media platforms across the United States and Canada on Saturday, August 21 at 8 pm ET/7 pm CT relied on The Switch’s live production expertise and extensive video delivery network for the hour-long telecast. The Switch supported key aspects of the broadcast, providing a range of production services and facilities, as well as delivery to all of SU2C’s media partners.

SU2C, a division of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, a 501(C)(3) charitable organization,  raises awareness and funds to accelerate collaborative cancer research. The Switch worked alongside the live event producing team, Done+Dusted, and SU2C’s production team to power the production and delivery of the telecast.

“We must ensure that new cancer treatments are developed quickly and efficiently and that there is access to preventive and lifesaving oncology services in every community,” said SU2C CEO, Sung Poblete, PhD, RN. “With 100% of donations received from the public supporting Stand Up To Cancer's innovative cancer research and awareness programs, our telecast gives us an opportunity to come together and take action to help raise the needed funds. We are so thankful to The Switch for helping to support our crucial work.”

The Switch’s Burbank production center handled the playout to SU2C’s media partners. At its Burbank facility, The Switch provided SU2C with a range of services, including control rooms, green rooms and a hospitality suite. COVID testing spaces were provided for the production team. To ensure the show was delivered in the highest quality, The Switch provided fiber and satellite distribution, pool ports and over-the-top (OTT) video delivery services.

David Shearer, Senior Vice President of Sales at The Switch, commented: “The SU2C telecast demonstrates The Switch’s ability to simplify the distribution and delivery of broadcast and OTT content, taking one program feed and seamlessly building out traditional linear and streaming deliverables. We have worked with Done+Dusted to support SU2C’s televised fundraisers for a decade now, and we’re proud to have deployed our services once again to ensure a seamless and impactful show.”

The Switch distributed three versions of the show, including English and Spanish versions in the US and an English version in Canada. While the program will remain the same, each feed will have graphics specific to the language and region.
