Teradek Announces Prism: The Next Generation 4K HEVC Solution for Broadcast and Production

Irvine, CA(16 Sep 2019)

Teradek is proud to announce Prism, a 4K HEVC encoder / decoder solution for broadcast, live production, and Pro AV applications. The company will showcase the rack-mountable solution at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam, NL.

Prism is the first of a brand new line of codecs that will revolutionize professional IP video workflows. With room for up to 9 blades in a 2RU chassis, Prism can encode or decode up to 4Kp60 video with stunning 10-bit 4:2:2 image fidelity. Each blade also supports up to 8-channels of audio and is capable of 4 simultaneous 1080p60 video feeds.

Prism offers the flexibility and scalability required by broadcast and enterprise customers operating on the cutting edge. The system’s redundant power and network connections ensure mission critical reliability in challenging environments, while a Genlock input offers frame sync on decoder outputs. Prism supports many common streaming protocols (MPEG-TS, RTP, RTMPS, etc..), in addition to SRT and Zixi. A software update will enable support for remote production workflows (REMI) in the near future.

“When we began development of Prism, we spent a lot of time working with our customers to produce a solution that would help them transition to a 4K workflow in a cost-conscious manner,” said Nicol Verheem, CEO of Teradek. “To achieve this, we built our platform from the ground up, using a completely new encoding technology stack and a new design philosophy that is better aligned with what our customers are looking for from a next gen encoder. The result is a product line that delivers exceptional video quality, tremendous value, and most importantly, dependability. We view Prism as the next chapter for Teradek in the IP video world.”

For expanded functionality, Prism can be connected to Core, Teradek’s IP video management and production platform. With Core, users can remotely configure, route, transcode, and record their IP video streams securely in the cloud.

The Prism 4K HEVC solution will be available Fall 2019. For more information, visit: http://prism.teradek.com.
