Simplestream debuts enhanced OTT solutions suite for the Americas at NAB Show 2017

London, UK(08 Mar 2017)

Simplestream, a leading provider of video services for the media and entertainment industry in Europe, today announced that it will unveil its enhanced suite of modular cloud solutions – including its Cloud TV Platform and MediaFlow – at NAB Show 2017 (stand #SU12806CM, Las Vegas, April 24 – 27, 2017), which bring the disruptive power of the cloud to American broadcasters and operators.

This marks an important step towards the opening of Simplestream’s American office, slated for later this year, to cater to the growing demand in the Americas for optimised delivery of live, catch-up and Video on Demand (VOD) content, and better support its European work. In Europe, Simplestream’s customers include A+E Networks, Turner, Discovery, Sony, Scripps, QVC and Newscorp amongst others. The company offers end-to-end OTT workflows, including apps, for all platforms on a SaaS model.

“2017 has been off to a very strong start for Simplestream with several new customers in the United States and ambitious plans to expand our footprint in the region,” commented Adam Smith, Founder & CEO of Simplestream. “We are investing in on-the-ground presence in the American market to enable a wide range of channels and operators to cost effectively and efficiently feed the growing consumer hunger for accessible, high quality and engaging video content.”

“The economics of the cloud and the new techniques it enables, like virtualized playout, are beginning to really disrupt the video distribution marketplace,” added Dan Finch, Commercial Director of Simplestream. “Any size of channel and operator can now use Simplestream cloud solutions to syndicate next-generation TV Everywhere services profitably and at scale – this is what we’ll be bringing to the table at NAB Show 2017.”

NAB on-booth product demonstrations will include:

  • Cloud TV Platform: An end-to-end, white label solution that enables pay TV operators, telcos and broadcasters to rapidly deploy next-generation TV Everywhere services across multiple screens and territories. The solution includes support for unlimited live channels, automated catch-up with backwards scrolling EPG, premium VOD delivery, and comprehensive user and entitlement management.
  • MediaFlow: This new solution, launching at NAB, enables broadcasters and other content owners to seamlessly distribute live channels and VOD content to any number of affiliate platform partners internationally. Linear channels can be time-shifted and customised with virtual playout to ensure effective monetisation in any territory. Built upon the company’s modular cloud-based Media Manager platform, MediaFlow enables syndication to a growing list of major operators and can be integrated with other modules to combine with direct-to-consumer streaming services.

Simplestream will be hosting a seminar entitled “The improving economics of international OTT distribution” in the Connected Media|IP theatre on Tuesday, April 25from 14:30 – 15:00 and participating in the “Can cloud-based services reduce CAPEX/OPEX for TV and content providers?” panel on Wednesday, April 26 from 13:45 – 14:30.
