Cabletime Unveils New Digital-Only Media Player

Cabletime has unveiled a new digital-only addition to the MediaStar Evolution family

Newbury, Berkshire(14 Nov 2013)

Cabletime, developer of the powerful MediaStar Evolution range of IPTV distribution solutions has announced the launch of the Evolution 780SL Media Player. This ‘refined’ version of the flagship Evolution 780AV player is aimed at users looking for a simpler range of features in an affordable, entry-level solution.

The Evolution 780SL delivers HDMI digital video and audio outputs, and suits users with no requirement for analogue. It still provides the ability to decode streams but now also features 8GB of on-board storage allowing it to play back stored content such as corporate videos and Powerpoint presentations. Like all Evolution products, the 780SL schedules this content through the Evolution Media Manager control software. It is available in standard and power-over-Ethernet versions.

Amongst a variety of other software features, the 780SL has an enhanced scrolling duo ‘ticker’. This enables users to display news, corporate announcements or internal messages overlaid on existing media, in the form of an RSS feed or custom text created via a protected web page. All standard RSS feeds can be shown and up to 10 individual feeds can be scrolled consecutively with a selection of header and/or subject content and in a wide range of colours. One unique feature is the clock, which can be synchronised to the user’s building time server, and, using the feeds, will allow the screen to display up to 10 different time zones simultaneously.

“The new Evolution has been refined, in the sense that it weighs slightly less than the 780AV, it also requires slightly less power, but it is highly affordable and still delivers all the functionality that Cabletime’s customers have come to expect of the Evolution range,” commented Mike Cuckow, Sales Director, EMEA Asia Pacific at Cabletime.

“Our goal was to deliver a media player that would allow content to be stored, scheduled, played-back and streamed using the clever technology that we have perfected over time, but with less components, enabling us to offer it at a highly competitive price. I believe we have achieved that goal.” Cuckow concluded.

The Evolution 780SL was launched on November 1st and is now available for order. Prices available from Cabletime or its network of resellers.

The MediaStar range provides TV/AV and multimedia distribution products primarily for medium to large enterprises, which require future-proof, stable and proven solutions for live TV, corporate communications, multicasts, music TV, training and digital signage.
