Cabletime Introduces Mac OS X Version of Popular MediaStar Media Portal

Newbury, Berkshire, UK(24 Aug 2015)

Cabletime, developer of the powerful MediaStar range of IPTV and digital media distribution solutions is launching a new Mac OS X version of the MediaStar Media Portal, designed to provide Mac OS X users with access to view all the media assets and content held within the MediaStar system.

The Media Portal Mac OS X operates through a Chrome browser to deliver a simple web page within MediaStar Media Manager which is available on a user’s PC, tablet or smartphone. By selecting specific icons users can select media assets including re-broadcast streams, live streams or iVOD content for playback. The Media Manager administrator can determine in advance the access rights to content and deliver different pages for different constituencies.

On-screen controls allow users to seek, play and pause the media as required from their chosen device. In addition, portal pages can be customised with corporate logos and backgrounds and images that are specific to an organisation can be used to represent the content, allowing for easy navigation.

“Up until now the Media Portal has only been available to PC, Android and iOS users, so we are excited to be extending this to a much broader user base with the Mac OS X version,” said Shaun Oxenham, CEO at Cabletime. “The Media Portal is a simple, but highly effective feature which provides users with an easy way to access live streamed and iVOD content from a single click on a web browser. It also gives organisations the opportunity to brand their media assets and create multiple portal pages for different users and uses.”

The Media Portal for Mac OS X will be available with immediate effect.

The MediaStar range provides TV/AV and multimedia distribution products primarily for medium to large enterprises, which require future-proof, stable and proven solutions for live TV, corporate communications, multicasts, music TV, training and digital signage.
