Curzon Cinemas Brings Art-House to TVs with Capablue

Films from London art-house movie theater chain Curzon Cinemas are now available to Samsung Smart TV owners in their own homes, thanks to an app created by Capablue. The app was built with Capablue's new Connected Plus solution.

The Samsung app will allow viewers to see some films in their homes the same day that they debut in theaters. It's part of a strategy that Curzon calls "In Cinemas, On Curzon."

The Capablue Connected Plus solution is a video-on-demand platform that lets content owners stream to multiple devices. Curzon and Capablue worked together to get the Samsung app to match Curzon's look and branding. Users can search for titles by recommendation, genre, or region. Purchased films are stored for seven days and can be watched on any supported device. The Connected Plus solution works Curzon's account management system, so that viewers can pay on one device and watch on another.

"Our vision was to give our customers the freedom to watch movies and new trailers in the comfort of their own home simultaneously to cinema release. In order to achieve this we are using Capablue's Connected Plus to power and manage the platform on which we could launch our groundbreaking Curzon On Demand Smart TV app," says Philip Knatchbull, CEO of Curzon.
