Grabyo Helps Companies Send Live Video Streams to Twitter

Twitter has made a major advance it how it delivers video, and London-based Grabyo is a launch partner. The short-form messaging social network announced last week the release of the Periscope Producer API which lets third-party applications stream live video directly to Twitter. Live video has become increasingly important to Twitter: It paid for the rights to live stream 10 National Football League games last season, and is currently live streaming weekly games for the National Lacrosse League.

Thanks to Grabyo's partnership, customers of the video platform can send live video directly to their Twitter or Periscope accounts. The solution is designed to make workflows more flexible for partners and allow them to reach a wider audience.

“Periscope has proven to be a highly effective platform for reaching an engaged audience and this integration within the Twitter platform brings access to an open, real-time audience which drives much of the conversation for social TV,” says Gareth Capon, Grabyo's CEO. “We look forward to making this available to our partners and expanding the scope of premium live content on both Periscope and Twitter.”

Grabyo customers have been streaming live on Periscope since it released Periscope Producer last fall, which lets companies stream from external devices such as professional cameras and production software. BT Sport used it to stream UFC press conferences, while the FA used it to stream the live draw of the FA Cup.

Other Periscope Producer API launch partners include Telestream Wirecast software, Livestream's Mevo camera, the Switchboard Cloud platform, and Teredek encoders and software.
