Silicon Alley video advertising software management company FreeWheel continues its expansion into Europe by gaining British Sky Broadcasting as a client. BSkyB will use FreeWheel's Revenue & Payments Management Advertiser system.

FreeWheel's technology will let BSkyB better manage advertising deals across a range of offerings, including SkyGo video-on-demand on computers, mobile devices, and tablets, as well as its Anytime+ set-top box offering. FreeWheel's capabilities include managing orders, reconciling payment terms with delivery, and sending invoices.

The RPM Advertiser system was created for large media companies such as BSkyB that stream to multiple platforms. According to FreeWheel, BSkyB will be able to use the platform to track the over- and under-delivery of ad insertion orders, avoid manually adjusting ad campaign fulfillment information, and decrease the chance of conflicts.

"BSkyB is one of the companies leading the way internationally in bringing programming to consumers across devices and environments," says Doug Knopper, co-CEO of FreeWheel. "We have had a very fruitful relationship with them through their use of our Monetization Rights Management system, and we are very excited to expand it to include RPM, enabling them to realize greater returns from minimizing the headaches involved with advertiser contract fulfillment at scale."

Earlier this month, FreeWheel announced that Channel 4 had hired it for video and display ad management.
