Introducing Streaming Media Producer

As online video continues to grow, so does Streaming Media. Today, we're launching Streaming Media Producer, a new site that targets professional video producers who are doing professional, corporate, and event work with both live and on-demand streaming video. The site will complement the existing Streaming Media line by focusing on the creative side of the online video equation—basically, everything that happens in the creation of online video before the producer hits "encode."

Streaming Media Producer will also feature more video content by way of turorials and interviews with industry experts and online video professionals. While plenty of that content is sure to appeal to regular readers of StreamingMedia.com, the explosive growth in producing video specifically for online delivery warrants a site targeted specifically at those video professionals. StreamingMedia.com will continue to focus on the issues and challenges facing the online video industry as a whole, as well as the technical how-to and analysis that's always been our strength. OnlineVideo.net, which we launched in 2010, will continue to focus on marketing and strategy for executives using online video to communicate with their customers.

Streaming Media Producer is in the capable hands of editor Steve Nathans-Kelly, who previously helmed EventDV magazine, the authoritative resource for event video producers. “As editor of EventDV, I talked to hundreds of pro video producers every year about their evolving businesses and the work they were doing,” says Nathans-Kelly. “In recent years I heard more and more about their adventures in corporate and commercial video, areas that were arguably underrepresented in the wedding and event filmmaking focus of EventDV. And of course the vast majority of those corporate and commercial projects—not to mention a great deal of live event video—culminate in videos delivered online, which presents a unique set of opportunities and challenges for professional video production crews. With Streaming Media Producer we’ll address all of those challenges and discuss a wide range of online video projects, with a dynamic mix of video and article content, all delivered with the quickturn immediacy of online media.”

So what's going to be on Streaming Media Producer? The site will be heavy on video tutorials, with video editing experts like Jan Ozer and videographers like Shawn Lam, David McKnight, and Philip Hinkle sharing their knowledge from behind the camera and in the editing bay, as well as behind-the-scenes articles and equipment and software reviews from Tim Siglin and others. It will also offer a weekly newsletter, Streaming Media Producer Focus, delivering the latest content directly to readers' email inboxes every Thursday. Take a look for yourself, at www.streamingmedia.com/producer, and check out the video content below.
