Customers "need for speed" encourages SIS LIVE upgrade to internet services
Leading connectivity provider SIS LIVE has significantly improved its satellite network speed for internet services, to consolidate its position as the industry expert in facilitating the broadcast of high end, multi-platform productions.

The company has updated and refreshed its hardware to offer speeds of around 11 megabits per second, more than doubling the previous average speed – and making SIS LIVE’s satellite based internet among the fastest on the market.
Nigel Gough, SIS LIVE’S IP operations manager, said: “We used adaptive modulation coding techniques on our satellite IP network to massively improve throughput, bringing it into line with the fastest satellite internet services available.
“We’ve acted in direct response to feedback from customers and they are already experiencing the benefits of much faster internet speeds.”
SIS LIVE’s satellite connectivity for live events is second to none. Satellite internet services are regularly called upon by broadcasters covering on-the-move sporting events, as well as headline-making music extravaganzas.
SIS LIVE’s attention to detail and the availability of Cisco trained network support engineers make the delivery of satellite internet services consistently successful.
Customers include European Tour Productions, who produce and distribute TV golf coverage, as well as major sports broadcasters and the producers of high profile music and cultural events.
SIS LIVE’s streaming expertise was used to live stream a recent Jessie J gig on a moving open-topped bus in Central London. Footage from 21 cameras, located on the bus with Jessie J; along the pavements en route; and on an overhead helicopter – were mixed live on the bus before being relayed via SIS LIVE’s production headquarters in Milton Keynes to fans watching online.
The ambitious eight-song moving concert was meticulously planned by SIS LIVE and its production partners to ensure the party atmosphere was streamed uninterrupted to the fans sharing the excitement as it happened via online devices all over the world.
In January this year, SIS LIVE used its own streaming and encoding facilities to film and host a live high definition (HD) stream of a concert by the London Symphony Orchestra and two of Kazakhstan’s most famous musicians. The concert, held at a Grade 1 listed former church in London, was watched live online by music fans worldwide.
These events followed SIS LIVE’s Guinness World Record-breaking broadcast of 31 concurrent live web streams from the ‘Red Bull Revolutions in Sound’ live music broadcast from the EDF Energy London Eye. More than 100 artists and DJs took over all the moving London Eye capsules in November 2013 for a celebration of UK club culture. SIS LIVE led delivery of the live coverage to channel4.com in the UK and via YouTube for the rest of the world, via multi-camera feeds from each capsule.
