Belgacom Chooses Witbe to Control the Quality of its Multiscreen Video Service

Witbe to monitor Belgacom TV's quality of experience over TV, PC, Smartphone & Tablet
Amsterdam, The Netherlands(9/6/2012) -

Witbe, a leading developer of Quality of Experience (QoE) monitoring solutions for service providers, today announced that Belgacom, the incumbent telecom operator in Belgium, has deployed its Multiscreen Quality Manager solution to ensure its subscribers enjoy the best quality of experience when watching TV on any device.

The Witbe platform is using the Belgacom TV service like users do: it is connected to Belgacom set-top boxes in several cities in Belgium. It also logs on Belgacom's TV Everywhere portal via Web browsers and uses Belgacom's TV Everywhere app for iOS and Android to "watch" live TV and order on-demand content all day long, every day, across all devices.

Belgacom engineers, marketers and managers have access to analytic dashboards reporting KPIs (Key Progress Indicators) such as channel change time, video streams quality, portal responsiveness, delay to launch the app and log into the portal, success ratio when buying on-demand content, etc. KPIs are available per device type and geographic location enabling management to focus troubleshooting actions and measure the impact of infrastructure investments on the quality delivered.

"Delivering multiscreen video services can be tricky as one does not control the networks nor the devices used to watch video streams. Controlling the quality of experience is crucial to ensure success, protect brand reputation and secure revenues," says Jean-Michel Planche, President, Witbe. "By choosing Witbe, Belgacom is highlighting its dedication to quality. Witbe is the only solution on the market capable of emulating users to measure any quality criteria on any device whether set-top boxes, PCs, smartphones or tablets. It is a critical component to help Belgacom deliver the full promises of multiscreen video services to its subscribers."

Witbe's Multiscreen Quality Manager has been shortlisted to receive the CSI Awards to be announced during IBC in Amsterdam on September 7, 2012. The solution will be demonstrated on the Witbe stand at IBC between September 7-11, Hall 4, Stand C50.
