Visionary Solutions Inc. today announced that Subsea Engineering Pte Ltd of Singapore, one of the premiere suppliers and equipment manufacturers for the offshore industry in the Asia-Pacific region, is using the company's AVN series of IP video encoders. The collaboration with Subsea Engineering dramatically expands Visionary Solutions' customer base to include offshore vessels in the oil and gas industry, enabling boats, barges, and drilling rigs worldwide to deliver high-quality, real-time video signals to remote personnel located onshore.
Subsea Engineering is installing the AVN series encoders for commercial diving and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) applications. Leveraging Visionary Solutions' sophisticated H.264 hardware compression and optimized transmission technology, divers and ROVs can seamlessly deliver an HD, full-frame rate, IP video stream to any TV, PC, smartphone, or tablet device onshore via satellite technology.

Prior to relying on Visionary Solutions' AVN encoders, Subsea Engineering customers were distributing video via coax cabling with video amplifiers and splitters situated around the vessel, resulting in poor video quality. Utilizing Visionary Solutions' AVN encoders, users can now seamlessly distribute high-quality video via a vessel's existing IP network, saving a significant amount of time and operational expense by eliminating the need to install additional coax cable and associated amplification and distribution equipment.
The AVN4XX series in particular, features a flexible, modular architecture that can easily adapt to different input resolutions -- including SD, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p -- providing users with a cost-effective and scalable broadcast solution. Through a simple upgrade made in the field, offshore vessels can easily increase the input resolution of their AVN4XX series encoders, without having to send the encoders back to shore.
