VideoIPath 2.5 managed video services platform makes its debut at IBC

New signal processing and routing management also launched

Sandefjord, Norway(01 Aug 2012)

Nevion, the leading provider of managed video services for broadcasters, service providers and government entities worldwide, will unveil its VideoIPath 2.5 managed video and audio services platform at IBC stand 8.B70. With the enhanced VideoIPath platform, broadcasters and service providers can effectively close the gap between the hardware used to transport video and audio and their internal business services.

“VideoIPath 2.5 literally sets the industry standard for comprehensive, end-to-end managed video and audio services,” said Eugene Keane, CTO, Nevion. “Its features and capabilities eliminate the need for specialized vertical solutions, lower CAPEX and OPEX through better resource management and streamlined operations, and drive higher profits.”

VideoIPath is a fully-integrated system, providing IP video transport for contribution networks with comprehensive, end-to-end control, monitoring and management, all from one intuitive interface. The platform targets delivery of managed video and audio services, encompassing complete provisioning, dynamic connection management, bandwidth optimization, analytics and network inventory. VideoIPath is a modern platform designed for openness, based on applicable industry standard interfaces, providing open APIs for integration with external OSS and BSS systems.

The 2.5 release offers a modular architecture allowing solutions to be customized according to customer needs, including support for third-party devices. The user interface has been enhanced with a new desktop-like app launcher, which improves interaction between different apps. A new network topology app allows the user to visually define the topology used to make offline routing decisions, while the newly-enhanced inventory graphical interface provides better support for large network infrastructures. The platform now also offers a control panel interface, with an interface designed for broadcast end users of the platform.

VideoIPath 2.5 provides full support for multi-format video encapsulation, multichannel bidirectional audio encapsulation, and near mathematically lossless JPEG 2000 and H.264 compression. Multiple protection schemes, including Nevion’s patented SIPS (Streaming Intelligent Protected Switching), EPP (Encoder Partner Protection) and LDO (Launch Delay Offset) provide extremely robust signal protection. Additional capabilities now also include full support for the VikinX Sublime router series.

The highly customizable CP-TOUCH-1U, a new advanced touchscreen panel, is designed for a variety of applications, including master control, studio automation and outside broadcast.

Featuring a large touchscreen interface in a compact 1RU size, it’s designed specifically for broadcast operations, providing simultaneous control of signal processing and routing systems. Its easy shifting of parameters is ideal for signal processing, as well as router control and distribution—all from one source.

Nevion’s new Multicon-THOR is a plug-and-play web-based router control system for VikinX Sublime, which customers can set up within minutes. It enables broadcasters to automatically detect router systems, easily control routers with a simple drag and drop interface, lock and protect x-points, and switch up to 16 virtual levels simultaneously. It integrates seamlessly with Nevion’s VikinX Sublime range of routers over IP, as well as supporting third-party routers.
