Unified Streaming’s Remix Implemented by Telenor Norway to Create Live2VOD

By adding this to the existing workflow, viewers get a completely customized on-demand experience.
Amsterdam, The Netherlands(7/24/2018) -

Telenor Norway, the country’s largest telecom and digital media provider, has enhanced its services with a Live2VOD solution. Implementing Unified Streaming’s software engine known as Unified Remix, Telenor can now archive entire live streams and deliver VOD created during playback. This grants viewers a completely customized on-demand experience.

Established in cooperation with cross-platform video-streaming technology leader Unified Streaming, Telenor’s Remix Live2VOD workflow enables live TV programs to become available from a weekly archive immediately after airing. The solution improves accuracy of programming start and end times. It also expedites turnaround time between recording and publishing.

The Remix Live2VOD workflow, moreover, is flexible. Besides permitting scaling of multiple channels, it allows for changes in electronic program guides and changes after a program has been sent.

Telenor Norway is part of the Telenor Group, headquartered in Fornebu, Norway. Today, with 170 million customers across Europe and Asia, Telenor seeks to improve productivity and access to digital content around the world.

Deploying Remix was a logic next step for Telenor since the company was already using Unified Origin, Unified Streaming’s software plugin, for live stream. Remix runs in front of Origin, thus fitting elegantly into an existing CDN platform.

In addition, existing schedule data or standard program break broadcast markers can automatically create Live2VOD. Still, the DRM is maintained from the live stream to the Live2VOD, or a Transdrm process can make use of new content keys.

The solution offers full support for FairPlay Streaming, Widevine and PlayReady.

System Integrator Vualto implemented this flexible Live2VOD solution at Telenor Norway.

“The Remix Live2VOD workflow permits the production of archives in a flexible, scalable way. As such, Unified Streaming is helping to bring instant satisfaction to Telenor’s viewers and to optimize their programming’s overall value,” says Ove Hånes Product Manager CDN at Telenor Norway.
