RAIDIX helps the world to see the Olympics

RAIDIX-powered storage systems enable TV channels to perform the preproduction works for the timely and spectacular sports broadcasting of Sochi 2014 Games.

?????-?????????(17 Feb 2014)

RAIDIX-powered storage systems enable TV channels to perform the preproduction works for the timely and spectacular sports broadcasting of Sochi 2014 Games.

The Olympics attract huge TV audiences from all around the globe. The most reputable and influential TV channels acquired the rights to cover it and international fans will be given the opportunity to feel the passion of competition, even through the TV screen. The official Games’ TV broadcaster ‘Sports Broadcasting Company’, CEO Vasily Kicknadze says that the channel itself has 12 mobile TV Stations at the site generating and transmitting the HD video content 24/7. In order to be able to access and process a 4000 hour video archive in less than a minute an innovative data storage and management system is a must.

The core of the IT infrastructure is represented by data storage systems managed by RAIDIX Media software product. The main requirement for the technical solution sought was to secure the highest speed of data transfer between video editing workstations and the storage. Also, the storage must efficiently handle the ever increasing volumes of generated video material from the newly introduced cameras. RAIDIX powered storage appliances fully comply with these vital requirements and thus were chosen to serve Sochi-2014.

The recent RAIDIX 3.3 product release took place in January 2014 and featured an extended list of supported interface controllers and ability to create 64-disk RAID groups. The main value is represented by the significant increase in productivity when performing sequential read/write operations.

The featured functionality enables video editing studios as well as TV and movie companies to acquire a professional SAN storage appliance using the standard hardware component base (disks, interface controllers, cache, processors). RAIDIX-powered storage appliances are optimized for media workloads, providing record speed and reliability.
