New nanocosmos low latency H5Live video player guarantees stable transition from Flash plugin

Berlin(07 Sep 2016)

nanocosmos, the Berlin based software company for live streaming business products, announces it’s new product “H5Live” for plugin-free live video playback with low latency in HTML5 web browsers, including the new iOS10 for Mobile and Mac OS Sierra for Desktops.

H5Live will be presented at the IBC Show in Amsterdam at Booth 2.A10.

This summer, both Google and Mozilla announced to phase out the support of Flash-based web video players by the end of 2016. The vulnerability of the player caused security concerns and pushes companies to look for HTML5-based web player solutions.

nanocosmos newest patent-pending development, the HTML5-based H5Live player, does not only guarantee high security standards, but also enables low latency streaming.

The player consists of a H5Live server component and a H5Live player API and web page, customisable to any user interface. The new player can be used plugin-free without previous download or installation.

H5Live enables low latency playback for any platform and is compatible to most browsers on desktop and mobile platforms, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and Internet Explorer.

As a state of the art software product, the H5Live Player ensures low latency live streaming on any operating system. Fallback to HLS and DASH is possible when low latency is not required. The player can be combined with existing HLS/DASH and Flash player architectures such as Bitmovin, jwplayer, flowplayer, and others.

The H5Live player software integrates with nanocosmos bintu.live streaming services with all its features, such as tagging and grouping streams. The H5Live player is available as an integral part of nanocosmos white label bintu.live streaming services or can be licensed for on-premise installation in a streaming platform to replace Flash-based live player applications.

Key features:

  • Low latency browser-based playback

  • Replacement for Flash-based web players

  • Modulation possible for cases where low latency is not key

  • No plugin needed

  • Integrates with existing player architectures

  • Integrates easily with the nanocosmos bintu.live streaming management platform, possibility of grouping and tagging streams, and simultaneous display of several streams

  • Integrates with nanoStream, bintu.live or your own RTMP server or CDN
