“The live production environment involves a vast turnaround of content which needs to be edited rapidly,” explains Chris Steele, product manager, Marquis.  “By managing how media is written to the MXFserver storage during transfer, Medway now allows editors to start to work with the media before the transfer or record is complete.  This is particularly useful in news and sports environments where there is a need to create an edit of highlights while the news feed is still streaming or the sports event is still being recorded.

“Editing live, growing files while they are still being recorded also allows editors to take advantage of less expensive storage while still enabling collaborative working,” continues Steele.  “As a result, we are currently looking at how the reach of MXFserver and Medway can potentially be extended into new market areas.”

"Our customers demand ever tighter integration between processes in order to achieve the most efficient workflows," confirms Pieter Hornix, CTO, Filmpartners. "Medway delivers the high levels of integration that are required, providing a simple highway for media to flow without incurring compatibility problems.   We are very pleased to be working with Marquis and look forward to introducing Medway to more broadcasters in our region."

Medway itself, is a sophisticated software tool kit delivering a seamless and cost-effective integration between leading broadcast content applications.  By unifying multi-vendor systems, Medway provides technical and operational workflows that optimise and integrate media clip and sequence transfers, media format conversion and transcoding, and metadata capture and integration.

The new solution will be on show for the first time at IBC 2012 on booth 2.A58 and Marquis and

Filmpartners aim to release further collaboration news after the show.
