SAN JOSE, Calif.(6/26/2018) -

Harmonic (NASDAQ: HLIT), the worldwide leader in video delivery technology and services, today announced that Indian broadcaster MMTV has deployed a next-generation playout, shared storage and video processing system from Harmonic. With Harmonic’s software-based solutions, MMTV has completely modernized its workflow to enable rapid online editing, playout and delivery of news and entertainment content in a broad range of formats. Harmonic’s highly flexible and scalable solutions enable the broadcaster to launch additional channels in the future, maximizing bandwidth efficiency and revenue generation.

“By modernizing our video infrastructure and moving toward a 10GigE network, we have the opportunity to increase channel capacity, boost workflow efficiency and launch HD offerings,” said Appu EN, Senior General Manager (Operations and Maintenance), at MMTV. “As a longtime user of Harmonic video solutions, we enjoy the rock-solid reliability, simplicity and cost savings they bring to broadcast workflows. Our modernized video platform will also help us make the transition to HD at a pace that makes sense for our operations.”

The broadcaster is using Harmonic’s Spectrum™ X media server for ingest and channel playout; MediaGrid for shared, real-time high-bandwidth storage applications; and Electra® X video processing solution for channel encoding and bandwidth optimization. RGB, a leading broadcast system integrator, ensured a fast and seamless deployment.

“Harmonic continues to be the leading provider of media server and processing solutions for cutting-edge broadcasters, including MMTV, which recently made significant improvements to network and channel capacity,” said Tony Berthaud, Vice President of Sales, APAC, at Harmonic. “Our long relationship with MMTV, combined with our software-based innovations, secured our position as a trusted technology partner as they create a next-generation workflow.”

Harmonic will showcase its latest innovations in production and playout, including support for UHD and all-IP workflows, at BroadcastAsia 2018, June 26-28, in Singapore at booth 4S2-01. Further information about Harmonic and the company’s solutions is available at www.harmonicinc.com.
