Groovy Gecko Provides Live Video Services to J.K Rowling’s Children’s Charity, Lumos, as it launches CrowdRise Fundraiser

Groovy Gecko, experts in live video streaming, have provided the children’s charity Lumos, founded by author J.K. Rowling, with a live stream for the launch of its latest fundraising campaign.

London, UK(09 Jun 2017)

The fundraising event was streamed live into Facebook and featured stars of the latest film set in Rowling’s wizarding world, as well as Lumos’ CEO, Georgette Mulheir. Using Groovy Gecko’s Facebook Live Streaming solution, fans were given the opportunity to ask questions relating to Lumos’ work via a series of teaser posts on social media channels, which were then answered live.

Lumos is committed to providing support to the 8 million children living in institutions and orphanages worldwide, who are denied the right to a loving family home because of a disability, poverty or ethnicity.

“We have worked with Groovy Gecko on previous live streams. Given its status as a Live Production Partner to Facebook Live and our past experience working together, it was only natural to partner once again to launch our latest campaign,” said Louise Tanner, Lumos. “Millions of children across the world are suffering in inadequate institutions. We’re sure that fans of J.K. Rowling’s brilliant world will get behind our latest campaign and are pleased that the live stream handled by Groovy Gecko was a success.”

As part of the CrowdRise Campaign, running until 20 September 2017, all donors will be in with a chance of winning a visit to the set of the film based on Rowling’s work, at the famous Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire, England. The winner will receive flights for two, four-star accommodation and two tickets to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter. On top of this, the winner will also meet the cast of the latest instalment based in the world of Harry Potter.

“We are pleased to be helping launch this campaign for Lumos,” commented Jake Ward, Business Development Director at Groovy Gecko. “The charity does such amazing work for children in need of care and protection, it was very important to us that we provided a quality service and hope the live stream is the start of a successful fundraising campaign for Lumos.”
