Bid Shopping's TV Channels Go Live on the Net with Sharpstream

Sharpstream Limited has announced that the three channels that make up Bid Shopping – Bid, Price Drop and Speed Auction – are now streaming live to the net via its content delivery network.

Brighton, UK(10 Nov 2011)

Bid Shopping was the UK's first-ever live auction TV shopping channel, launching in 2000. The three channels each broadcast live over 18 hours daily and are already available on Sky, Virgin, Freeview and Freesat platforms. The relationship with Sharpstream now also broadcasts the channels live to tablets, smartphones and computers.

Over the last twelve months, Bid Shopping has marked its 10th anniversary with an expansion of its warehouse facilities, a new design for its websites, new logos and new graphics on its TV channels. Streaming live TV on its website is the latest development to maintain its reputation as one of the UK's best-loved multi-channel retailers.

"Streaming is a core part of our strategy to enhance our service for our viewers, local and global. It helps us build the loyalty of our audiences by giving them access to our channels no matter where they are. We selected Sharpstream because the quality of service and level of customer care they offer are critical to us as a broadcaster." Said Paul Janse van Vuuren, Head of Information Systems.

Alan Brown, Director of Sharpstream noted: "Live TV is crucial for Bid's channels with their live product demonstrations and realtime auctions. Our network aims to deliver a TV experience for Bid's viewers on the Internet, with fast start-up times and a fully monitored service."

Shoppers can log on to the channels at www.bid.tv/ and clicking on Live TV Deals. More information on Sharpstream is at www.sharp-stream.com.
