Piksel Expands Operations in Malaga, Spain by 30%

Piksel experiences continued growth in Europe

New York(05 Jul 2016)

Piksel, a global leader in building successful online video businesses, today announces the expansion of its operations in Malaga, Spain bringing the number of staff to 55 and increasing its office space by 30%.

The Malaga office which opened in 2010, has grown significantly from just one person, to over 50 today, and is primarily focused on supporting Piksel’s micro-services architecture (MSA) philosophy that underpins its flagship approach for delivering video over the internet in a fast and flexible way, the Piksel Palette. The Piksel Palette enables the company to deliver a completely modular solution that can adapt to the unique needs and workflows of broadcast, media and entertainment companies.

Malaga presents the ideal location for the company as it boasts a talent pool of highly skilled English-speaking software developers, as well as easy access to the rest of Europe, and a central time zone shared by many of its key customers.

Allan Dunn, Piksel’s Chief Operations Officer, said: “Our Spanish operation is staffed with incredibly talented technical architects, software developers, QA specialists, and project managers, whom play a key role in supporting the continuing development of the Piksel Palette™ and client projects using a DevOps approach. Recently, we formed a machine learning and artificial intelligence team in Malaga to support our product development efforts in this dynamic area. These teams have developed under the leadership and guidance of Mauricio Farache, a Piksel Senior Technical Architect, who has personally overseen the growth and been central to cementing Malaga’s position within Piksel’s office network. Our prospects and customers in the region will certainly benefit from our additional resources in the region.”

“After spending time working in many Piksel offices around the world, I saw a strong opportunity for Piksel to invest in the Malaga area as a complement to our existing worldwide organization. I am thrilled to be part of the future growth plan and am looking forward to meeting potential candidates who are looking for a challenging and rewarding tech job in Malaga at a company breaking through boundaries in online video. New recruits will have the chance to participate in exciting and technically challenging projects and advance their skills by utilizing the latest software tools, languages, and methodologies,” explains Mr. Farache.

Strategically, the Malaga office is well positioned to support Piksel’s continued global growth and deliver product development, client solutions and managed services support regionally across Europe. The company has increased its European footprint in recent months, having appointed a new Vice President for Market Development for EMEA, Clive Malcher, a former executive from Channel 5. The expanded operation adds to Piksel’s strong regional network of offices in France, Germany, Italy, and its regional headquarters in the UK.
