Medialooks launches premium video transport service

Medialooks today announced the launch of its premium video transport service with NDI support.

At IBC2017, Medialooks first introduced a prototype of its video transport solution that needs no dedicated hardware or network infrastructure — making it possible to connect distant locations in any part of the world. Today, Medialooks announced pricing for the premium version of their solution: customers will be billed per channel per month.

“Not only is our video transport extremely flexible and easy to set up at an ad hock location,” said Andrey Okunev, CEO at Medialooks, “but it is also highly competitive to enterprise-grade solutions as it offers up to 50 Mbps per channel and ultra-low latency.”

This March, Medialooks published a case study featuring successful deployment of the product during the live streaming of a sports event: a Swiss company transported the master signal from two different countries to their studio in Switzerland before contributing to a cloud-based video streaming service. This was done to ensure reliability by following a contribution process the company was completely confident in.

“We’ve experienced reliable transmission over 8992 km, and it was faster than the alternatives,” said Jan Schäfer, chief technical and event specialist at Upstream Media, who was responsible for these broadcasts. “The product is very easy to use, keeps a stable connection over hours; and Medialooks provides great support. 1 year ago I would never think about a solution like this one: it is a real alternative to common encoders and it is the next level of NDI.”

Medialooks’ video transport solution is seamlessly integrated with NDI, essentially making it very easy to expand a local IP workflow over several remote locations — which provides means for a video production process to be truly Internet-based, bypassing the restrains of distance, travel and setup time.
