Viaplay Selects ThinkAnalytics for Search and Recommendations
Scandinavian online TV service Viaplay has selected ThinkAnalytics to power search and recommendations for its cloud-based service in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland.
According to ThinkAnalytics, Viaplay made the choice because of ThinkAnalytics' ability to manage cloud-based search, as well as its metadata enhancement and recommendations features.
Viaplay subscribers will be able to tap personalized content recommendations, lists of popular programs, category-based lists, related content recommendations, and intelligent search. ThinkAnaltyics' services work on computers, smartphones, tablets, connected TVs, and game consoles.
“ThinkAnalytics’ Recommendations Engine allows us to offer a great personalized experience by making it easy for users to find the content they love, whenever and wherever they want -- and on the device of their choice,” says Rikard Steiber, CEO of Viaplay.
ThinkAnalytics notes that its customer lineup includes Fox, BSkyB, Cox Communications, and Liberty Global.
In December 2013, Viaplay chose to work with thePlatform for backend video services. ThinkAnalytics notes that its recommendations engine is already integrated with thePlatform's MPX video publishing system. In October 2012, Viaplay announced it would work with Envivio for IP-based live streaming.
Just a few weeks ago, Fox Broadcasting released an updated version of its Fox Now iOS video app, which uses ThinkAnalytics to power the recommendation feature.
thePlatform's MPX system will handle metadata management, rights enforcement, and more for streaming customers.
The Nordic OTT specialist will use Envivio software-based encoders to send live video to set-top boxes.
