Vizrt introduces UHD Media Asset Management at NAB 2017

Vizrt will show Enterprise Media Asset Management with federated search and Sony XAVC UHD support at NAB 2017.

Norway(25 Apr 2017)

Vizrt, the world’s leading creator of software-based media solutions, will demonstrate extensive new functionality in the Viz One MAM system at NAB 2017. Viz One is a strategic investment for media companies to manage all of their assets with more than 200 installations worldwide.

Ingest and edit Sony XAVC UHD

Ingest and edit Sony XAVC in up to Ultra HD resolution using Viz One. Sony XAVC represents a new generation of media formats and is increasingly being used for Ultra HD production. The new functionality also introduces support for handling a wider range of resolutions, frame rates, and formats in Viz One.

Proxy editing is the key to efficient production workflows with UHD. To more accurately represent UHD media we have also improved the proxy image quality by using an even more efficient H.264 codec.

The media pipeline in Viz One is now a separate microservice integrated via our Viz One API. This means that customers can efficiently upgrade to UHD media handling without having to do a full software upgrade of their media asset management system.

Centralize production and improve collaboration with federation

Collaboration and media reuse across multiple systems enables efficient centralized production. The new federated search and media exchange allows users to easily find media across systems, across facilities, and across continents, and exchange assets with a single click.

Improved production control with concurrent metadata editing

The new concurrent metadata editing automatically warns users when metadata changes are out-of-date. This makes it easier for multiple users and systems to simultaneously edit Viz One metadata without any crucial business metadata such as rights becoming overwritten.

More efficient metadata handling

Metadata drives how users and systems treat and process media. Business relevant metadata is a vital enabler for production efficiency. The new metadata management tools allow managers to manage metadata in a web-based editor. This makes it easier to regularly change metadata schemas and adapt to new business requirements.

Save money with PostgreSQL database

The new PostgreSQL database support can significantly decrease IT costs compared with other database options.

“PostgreSQL is a proven enterprise-grade database that we foresee large scale adoption from all customer sizes.” said Oscar Tengwall, Vizrt’s Enterprise MAM Product Manager.
