TV2 embrace Ka Transmissions with Quicklink

TV2 Denmark routinely uses Quicklink’s technology to successfully broadcast standard Definition transmissions from remote locations. Morten Brandstrup, Head of News Production at TV2 states “Using the Ka band, we are able to deploy and broadcast even in remote areas of the world without internet access or infrastructure”. “With Quicklink and Ka band terminals, we have a mobile and flexible setup which is quick and easy to move and set up on new locations”.

The Quicklink Ka solution has been successfully utilised for events such as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Morten explains “We can also run the Quicklink Ka solution for a 3 day event without needing any adjustment of position. TV2 routinely uses the Ka technology with the Quicklink live software installed on a MacBook with fantastic results”.

The benefits of using the Quicklink with the Ka band technology include a low latency uplink delay (typically 350 ms) and a cost effective solution. Morten explains, “With Quicklink, you get a real high quality transmission which is evident within the picture”.

Above all the simplicity of using the solution has given the TV2 team the freedom to setup simply and efficiently without training, “We are currently running a week’s live from Cannes Film Festival with Quicklink. The solution works, it’s simple and reliable.”
