TV App Agency launch TV App Engine 3.0

Leaders in OTT app development TV App Agency, have today announced the launch of version 3.0 of the award winning TV App Engine, a 'develop once/deploy to many' cross platform app compiler.

The TV App Engine 3.0, which is currently licenced by leading VOD service Wuaki.tv among others enables the generation of native applications to over 100 supported platforms. This includes all leading Smart TVs and connected devices such as Panasonic, Samsung, Opera TV, Philips, LG, Web OS, Sony, Sharp, Hisense, Toshiba, Netgem, Foxxum, Android TV, EE TV, Arris and Amazon Fire TV with several new platforms added including, HBB TV devices and the new Tizen OS from Samsung.

TV App Engine 3.0 offers an API plugin for easier integration into 3rd party solutions such as online video players (OVP’s) who can integrate the technology as part of their workflow processes from content ingestion through to multi-platform client delivery.

Smart TVs apps are rapidly growing in popularity for streaming of content with a recent report from HUB Research suggesting that of more than 1,000 US TV viewers ages 16 to 74 who watched at least 5 hours of TV per week and who had a smart or connected TV, one-third accessed TV shows via on-screen apps at least once per week, with more than four in 10 of those respondents doing so daily.

The single source code is then submitted into the TV App Engine 3.0 where connectors to partner technologies such as Brightcove, Ooyala, Smartclip, YuMe, thePlatform, Rollbar and Google Analytics are integrated and within seconds, fully customised, native applications are generated for every selected platform.
