News Corp’s News Digital Media Turns to thePlatform to Power Australian News Operations

Agreement covers 50 major entertainment and news destinations including news.com.au, The Australian and Vogue.au
Seattle, Wash.(1/20/2009) - thePlatform, the leading white-label video management company, and News Digital Media, the online business of News Corporation?s Australian subsidiary News Limited, today announced that thePlatform will publish and manage online video across 50 News Digital Media properties, including news.com.au and major newspaper websites, including The Australian. The agreement also calls for thePlatform to provide broadband video publishing services to News Limited?s major magazine properties including Vogue.com.au and NotebookMagazine.com.au.

News Digital Media, one of Australia?s largest and most innovative digital media publishers, reaches nearly 10 million unique browsers each month through its digital media properties. In addition to managing and syndicating video among News Digital Media sites, thePlatform will also serve as the aggregation point for content from third party sources such as The Associated Press, Reuters and Sky News. News Digital Media joins a number of premier news sources, including The Associated Press and Gannett, that utilize thePlatform to manage and syndicate their broadband video.

"We chose thePlatform due to their extensive experience in supporting the digital operations of major news and media properties," said Michael Lynch Video Technology Manager, News Digital Media. "With their system, we have standardized our video operations in order to quickly publish both our own and third-party news and entertainment content across our network."

"Millions of people in Australia, and around the globe, turn to News Digital Media for breaking news and entertainment stories," said Ian Blaine, CEO, thePlatform. "With our system, News Digital Media can introduce premium ad-supported video to their portfolio and syndicate stories throughout their properties in a matter of minutes.?

As part of its rollout, News Digital Media has incorporated a number of thePlatform's technological capabilities to improve viral discovery, search and video views, including:

These include News Limited mastheads The Australian, The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, Gold Coast Bulletin, and The Courier Mail, along with local news sites PerthNow and AdelaideNow.

? Search Engine Submission: thePlatform gives News Digital Media the ability to automatically submit video information to search engines, including Google.
