Groovy Gecko Announces Passing of Technical Director Eddie Robins

Groovy Gecko is sad to announce the death of Eddie Robins, who was the company's Technical Director. Eddie had been working at Groovy Gecko since 1999 and in that time had overseen the ongoing development of Groovy Gecko’s in-house streaming platform, major implementations of video platforms for large clients, and created solutions for some of the most complex, innovative, and award-winning live webcasts on the planet.
His larger-than-life personality, together with 17 years of deep technical understanding, made him a valuable member of our team and a person whom, once you met him, you were unlikely to forget.
Not only have we lost a great and innovative figurehead who helped pioneer the UK and European streaming industry to new heights, but we will also desperately miss a dear friend and colleague who will be impossible to replace. In particular, we will greatly miss his exuberant, intelligent, biting wit, and his sometimes cantankerous presence joining us at the bar to shoot the breeze.
Eddie’s stubbornness and dogged determination is probably one of the reasons why he survived cancer, but he passed away unexpectedly from complications five months into his convalescence. All condolences and messages of support for his family may be sent to info@groovygecko.com
