Amsterdam, The Netherlands(26 Feb 2016)

Unified Streaming the leading provider of cross-platform video streaming technologies, today announced that it has been selected by Foxtel, Australia’s most progressive and dynamic media company, to create and optimise Foxtel’s streaming platform enabling delivery of Foxtel’s premium live and on demand programming across multiple devices.

Unified Streaming’s feature set aligns with Foxtel’s device roadmap and will utilise TransDRM to transform Foxtel’s pre-encrypted play-ready live content into a new format with DRM encryption, providing a smooth transition from Foxtel’s legacy system, while supporting Foxtel’s Start Over feature on its set top boxes and streaming devices.

Foxtel’s Live and VOD origins are dockerized, which allows fast operational control of the infrastructure. Docker is a new container technology that can take advantage of Unified Streaming’s unique abilities to be integrated seamlessly in any workflow. Containers isolate applications from each other and the underlying infrastructure while providing an added layer of protection for the application. The applications running in Docker containers are easy to modify, update and scale without bothering neighboring containers.

Brett Paton, Foxtel Head of Technology Development, said, “Unified Streaming provides Foxtel with the ability to stream our live and on demand content across a wide range of device formats and DRM options, which is instrumental in maximising efficiency for delivering our programs to a large number of subscribing homes across Australia. We’re pleased to have them on board to help ensure we continue to deliver the high quality entertainment experience our customers know us for.”

“We are very proud of our perfect match with Foxtel and it shows Unified Streaming’s solutions eliminate certain complicated, time consuming and costly workflows without having to skimp on performance.”, says Simon Westbroek, VP Global Sales of Unified Streaming. “Due to Unified Origin’s dynamic nature, this technology fits all sizes of use cases with different purposes and requirements.”
