Elemental Streams Live Linear TV 24x7 for Swiss OTT Pioneer Wilmaa
Delivers 82 live channels to multiple devices with time-shift functionality

Elemental Technologies, the leading supplier of video solutions for multiscreen content delivery, today announced that Elemental® Live systems are streaming 82 linear television channels 24x7 including 8 HD channels to viewers online across multiple devices for Wilmaa GmbH, the leading Swiss over-the-top (OTT) web television provider. Wilmaa plans to scale its Elemental Live deployment to support several hundred channels in the future for its TV service.
In a model similar to Hulu’s video service, Wilmaa enables viewers in Switzerland to watch TV from national and international broadcasters online. The service is accessible via web browser, Android and iPhone smartphones as well as tablet devices. Wilmaa makes a number of advanced personalized viewing options, such as DVR and Catch-up TV, available to subscribers for a low monthly fee. In addition, Wilmaa will launch an OTT Set-Top-Box this fall.

Elemental partnered with Ad Insertion Platform Sàrl. The Swiss based company is active in digital ad insertion and system integration for cable and IPTV-operators in order to design, install and manage the operational parts of the headend including the Elemental encoding platform.
In Wilmaa’s deployment, Elemental Live systems receive 24x7 broadcast satellite feeds via IP-based UDP input, then process high-definition (HD) and standard-definition (SD) single program transport streams (SPTS) into adaptive bitrate RTMP outputs. Elemental® Conductor manages Elemental Live systems in a redundant configuration, providing a central management console for all 82 channels to ensure high service availability. Finally, video streams are delivered via a CDN to end-user devices.
