Digital Rapids Expands StreamZ Live Family with New Mobile Streaming Encoder

Las Vegas -- NAB 2008, Booth SL8724(4/13/2008) - Digital Rapids -- a leading developer of scalable solutions for media ingest, encoding, transcoding, protection, streaming, delivery and playout -- has unveiled a new mobile-targeted model in the company's StreamZ Live line of live streaming encoders.

The StreamZ Live family delivers the proven benefits of Digital Rapids' award-winning StreamZ studio encoding systems in a dedicated live platform, including the robust reliability and exceptional output quality that make them the platform of choice for leading studios, networks and facilities. The new StreamZ Live encoder for 3GPP/Mobile supports AVC/H.264, MPEG-4 Part 2 and H.263 video with AAC-LC and AMR audio. StreamZ Live for 3GPP/Mobile joins previously introduced VC-1, AVC/H.264, On2 VP6 (for Adobe Flash Player 8) and MPEG-2 configurations, providing a comprehensive selection of models supporting distribution channels from IPTV to webcasting and mobile phones.

Offered in a 1RU rack-mount form factor, StreamZ Live encoders feature advanced, hardware-based video and audio pre-processing capabilities that enable optimum output quality and the most efficient use of bandwidth in the compressed result. StreamZ Live encoders can be combined with the Digital Rapids Broadcast Manager software for enterprise-level encoder management and fault tolerance. Broadcast Manager centralizes management and control of multiple live streaming encoders including scheduling, monitoring, automated failover and alert notifications.

"Digital Rapids encoders power hundreds of live IPTV channels and webcasts worldwide every day, and the new 3GPP/Mobile model brings the proven benefits of StreamZ Live to content providers and network operators targeting mobile phones," said Brian Stevenson, Director of Product Management at Digital Rapids Corporation. "StreamZ Live encoders are ideal for any size of streaming application, while the combination of StreamZ Live and Broadcast Manager delivers a powerful, robust solution for mission-critical and larger-scale streaming operations."

StreamZ Live, Broadcast Manager and the complete line of Digital Rapids products are being showcased at the NAB Show 2008 in booth number SL8724. For more information, please visit our web site at www.digital-rapids.com.
