Dailymotion launches first subscription based movie service in Turkey

New York, New York(04 Apr 2014)

Dailymotion, one of the world’s biggest video platforms, today launches its first movie subscription service: Dailymotion Plus.

Dailymotion will launch the service in Turkey, one of its biggest markets. Users will have access to thousands of movies carefully picked for a Turkish audience. The platform offers viewers in Turkey conventional genres such as adventure, thriller and comedy, as well as alternative viewing choices such as animation, art and adult genres.

The platform, which is released after a two-year development period, operates a monthly membership system with no long term contract. Movies can be viewed anywhere, on any device, without interruptions or advertisements. The project is a joint venture with the local key player, MCD Group.

Dailymotion Plus is Dailymotion’s first SVOD investment and the first step of a global project.

Martin Rogard , Dailymotion COO, expressed his excitement about the Project:  "Dailymotion has one of the world’s most robust and reliable video players and a track record of securing excellent content deals around the globe. Turkish viewers make up one of our most dedicated audiences and have shown an appetite for streamed long form content. This, combined with Turkey’s strong investment in mobile internet, makes Turkey an ideal place for our first SVOD service.”

Ege Ersoy, General Manager of Dailymotion Plus, adds: "Many foreign movies do not reach the Turkish audience, despite a clear demand. Turkish viewers rarely have access to artistic movies and alternative genres except at specialist film festivals. With Dailymotion Plus, we have created a carefully selected movie archive to fill this gap. We have built an easy to use, quality service for every age group. The service is offered at a good price and the proceeds support filmmakers, many of them independent."
