NPO pilots StreamZilla MultiCDN

A large step in the international success of the only confederated CDN

Groningen(27 Oct 2015)

Today, the Dutch public broadcasting organisation (NPO) starts a pilot with StreamZilla MultiCDN solution. StreamZilla operates the only confederated multi CDN platform in the world. The NPO is the first large broadcasting organization to test the capabilities of the platform.

MultiCDN is a strategy that offers higher scalability. The purpose is to direct your traffic through multiple CDNs in an intelligent way. Besides offering an increased scale, Multi CDN should also reduce costs and increase the performance.

Egon Verharen, Manager R&D: “As a public broadcasting organization, the ability to deliver media at a large scale and at the lowest price is of key importance. In the past NPO has chosen to do this ourselves. The growth in demand for online media is an increasing strain on our resources.

We were looking into several possibilities to increase scale significantly in the future, at a reasonable cost and without having to build the intelligence ourselves to switch the traffic from one CDN to another. We believe we found that iIn StreamZilla. They can offer us increased scalability. They surprised us by their ability to integrate with our own technological streaming capabilities. Now we can choose between using our own network and multiple CDNs for the delivery of the media. This provides us with the increased stability and scalability. But still we remain completely independent from a single supplier.

Stef van der Ziel, founder and CEO of StreamZilla: “We are very excited that NPO has decided to work with us on this pilot. NPO is well known in the Dutch market for their top-notch streaming capabilities. That they see MultiCDN as a welcome addition is an acknowledgement of the years of hard work that went into the realization of our MultiCDN platform. Because we are already fully integrated with multiple CDNs, we can decrease the total cost of ownership of operating a MultiCDN strategy significantly.
