BBC signs five year contract with Quicklink

The BBC World Service has purchased Quicklink broadcasting solutions for both live reporting and file based video transmissions on behalf of all sectors within the Arabic and Persian divisions worldwide, Quicklink Video Distribution Services Ltd.

The BBC has been a Quicklink customer for 9 years using the company’s outstanding Store & Forward solutions for its file based reporting. This decision by the company expands the use of Quicklink for Live reporting in the field.  This recent contract consists of a corporate software license for their Persian and Arabic field journalists for both Live and Store and Forward solution. As a part of the total contract the corporation has signed for five years usage of the Quicklink equipment, including a total of five years annual support and maintenance.

This announcement follows the strategic decision of the Newsgathering division, who recently adopted the Quicklink Live Solution for global use and distribution. The Asian division has also now chosen Quicklink for its live operations and file based transmissions from the field

Quicklink Live LNG, MAC solution, is also being used for the latest series of Planet Earth Live programs. The Planet Earth Live series, broadcasting in May 2012, will be covering five locations: Kenya, Africa; South Africa, Africa; Minnesota, USA; Sri Lanka, Asia; California, USA.
