For CE manufacturers, video player developers, and operators looking to stream MPEG-DASH video, Digital TV Labs introduced a testing platform at the IBC exhibition currently underway in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Digital TV Labs specializes in digital media testing tools, with offices in Bristol, U.K., and Hong Kong, China.

The service is called Ligada iSuite for DASH, and it runs on Digital TV Labs' Ligada iSuite Test Harness. With it, developers can run DASH264 compliance testing on any video player or device, leading to the creation of interoperable clients and video players.

iSuite for DASH offers conformance testing for DASH segmented video streaming, so developers can test the ability to insert ads into either live or on-demand video. Its network manipulation functionality can simulate the operation of live networks, letting developers test bitrate adaption.

“Video content providers require confidence that the entire workflow chain, from encoder, distribution network to video player and end device, are interoperable in order to maximise reach to the end consumers or viewers," says Keith Potter, CEO at Digital TV Labs. "Ligada iSuite for DASH is a unique tool designed to tackle these interoperability issues and spur the deployment of more IP video services to more platforms by more content providers.”
