CDN.net Begins Offering Live Video Support
CDN.net, a London-based CDN that offers commitment-free pay-per-use service, today announced that it now supports live video for desktop and mobile viewers. CDN.net boasts that it's able to stream live video with fast load times and no quality issues to a global audience.
Wowza's Media Server 3 makes CDN.net's new live service possible, and enables support for the Adobe, Android, Flash, Microsoft Silverlight, and Apple protocols. Ready for a global audience, CDN.net's live streaming will begin from European and North American locations, with presence in the Asia Pacific region coming soon, the company promises.
“The future of content consumption relies on live video and other rich streaming media, much of it viewed on smartphones and tablets,” says James Fletcher, commercial director for CDN.net. “A global, federated CDN eliminates the legwork in live streaming, so that content creators can focus on meeting user expectations with engaging, high quality video.”
Besides its live streaming news, CDN.net notes that it has added pseudo-streaming for MP4 and Flash Video (FLV) files. This means viewers can now seek within videos that haven't finished downloading.
CDN.net launched in March of this year, and is targeting media, marketing, game publishing, and e-commerce companies with its commitment-free offering.
